Product certification

UPEC is a product certification issued by the French institution CSTB, verifying the technical suitability of the products related to their intended use.

CSTB UPEC - Cotto d'Este products

The CE mark is a safety certification required by the European Union with the intention of safeguarding health and safety.

DOP - Porcelain tile
DOP - Laminated porcelain 3,5 mm
DOP - Laminated porcelain 5,5 / 6,5 mm

The KEY-MARK and the Certiquality-UNI marks confirm that the certified products are compliant with the EU laws regarding ceramic tiles.

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a transparency tool that communicates the environmental performances of Cotto d'Este porcelain tile through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Cotto d'Este products have a type III specific EPD. This is certified by an independent third party according to EN 14025 and EN 15804 standards (applicable PCR). EPD certified products are required by the main construction certifying bodies such as LEED (international), BREEAM (England), HQE (France), and DGNB (Germany), as well as the legislative frameworks in Italy (requisites for sustainable public contracts).

GREENGUARD certifies products that guarantee the highest standards of air quality in indoor environments. All porcelain stoneware and Kerlite Cotto d'Este collections have obtained GREENGUARD GOLD certification, i.e. the UL standard with the strictest VOC emission limits, and are therefore able to ensure that they are as healthy as possible for the people who use and inhabit these environments. They can therefore be used in environments such as schools and health facilities, attended by sensitive individuals such as children and the elderly. GREENGUARD GOLD is a widely recognised certification required by sustainable building programmes and design and construction regulations around the world, such as LEED (international) and BREEAM (UK).

UL - Cotto d'Este products

It is a voluntary certification that gives additional value to Cotto d'Este products because they are manufactured according to the highest standards of sustainability and responsibility.

In accordance to the ISO 9001 certification, every passage in the production process, from the arrival of the raw material to the packaging of the finished product, is verified by experienced personnel through accurate quality control. The EU EMAS Eco-Management and Audit Scheme for organisations requires the creation of a complete system of environmental management based on constant improvement. The system is based on the establishment of a rapport of cooperation and trust with employees, local authorities and the public. An Environmental Declaration is the final product of such process.

Slowing down today, to come back stronger tomorrow.

Today more than ever, doing business demands a strong sense of responsibility as well as the ability to be flexible, in particular at a time as dramatically complex as the one we’ve been living through over the past few weeks due to the Covid-19 situation.

Right from the start we instituted a series of strict rules for the purpose of safeguarding the health and safety of our employees in the workplace, in full respect of the regulations passed by the Italian government.

Now we have decided to temporarily halt manufacturing in our Italian sites, which will remain closed for three weeks as of this Friday 20th March because of an external economic situation that is momentarily impacting negatively the market.

Nevertheless, the company is not closing.

We are here for you, and for those who wish to continue choosing our products and to whom we will guarantee the best commercial assistance and an efficient delivery service.

We are still here, with our continuous innovation and our ongoing research into new products and solutions that we will soon be proud to launch.

We will come back even stronger than before, ready for the new challenges that await us!
