Amid the soft profiles of the Helderberg Mountains, a few kilometres from Cape Town, Private House in Somerset West was conceived as a bright, contemporary retreat suspended between nature and architecture.

The residence – designed by architect Pierre Ytier – integrates harmoniously into the landscape, engaging with the light of western South Africa through pure volumes, wide openings and materials of essential beauty. Every space is designed as an experience of balance and calm: neutral tones, material textures and carefully calibrated details shape a sophisticated aesthetic.

PRODUCT USED

Defining the continuity and identity of the interior spaces is Blend Stone 14MM, a collection that captures the mineral purity and tactile depth of natural stone, reinterpreted through the aesthetic and technological precision of Cotto d’Este.

The 14 mm thickness, synonymous with solidity and absolute quality, gives the flooring an unparalleled scenic presence—offering strength while enhancing the furnishings and architectural choices of designers and planners. The Sabbiata finish, delicately luminous, was chosen for its intrinsic ability to convey a sense of natural warmth, amplifying light and turning every step into a sensory experience. In this home, material becomes language: a way to express the refinement, durability, and timeless excellence that define every Cotto d’Este creation.
