SMC Italia’s new headquarters in Brugherio features three floors of offices, a central courtyard with a skylight that illuminates the entire space with natural light and a new warehouse, covering a total area of 14,000 square metres. The project was entrusted to studio e45 - Genuine Italian Design, which designed dynamic and lively spaces with a welcoming sense of minimalism, in line with the values of the Japanese parent company.
Materials with cold tones, such as exposed concrete and ceramic coverings, alternate with the wooden finishes of the glass walls, upholstered furniture and plants, which balance the environment and make it warm and comfortable. Comfort is also guaranteed by a large central lightwell that acts as a glue between all the elements and materials that make up the project.
The choice of the sandy Oyster colour from the range of shades in the Limestone collection, in the 90x90 format, plays a central role in the reception and the striking central courtyard, as well as in the showroom and training rooms. It is a surface with delicate colours and exceptional depth effects, selected here with the Natural finish, featuring a light patina that makes it soft and enveloping. Limestone Oyster also appears in the innovative Application Center, chosen for its resistance and to create a sense of colour continuity with the previous rooms.
Metal is another standout collection in this project: its Kerlite slabs, in the Iron version, have been chosen and laid in the reception area on an entire 10-metre high wall. It consists of ultra-thin, large-format ceramic slabs that are versatile, easy to use and ultra-resistant thanks to their exclusive glass fibre reinforcement. The choice of Metal gives the space a distinctly smart, contemporary touch, while making it very aesthetically striking.
